Links tapped inside Instagram and other social apps often open in that app's own browser. Opener tries to hand the visitor to the app that owns the content instead.
What visitors see#
On a phone:
- A short page opens, titled Open and the app's name, showing where the link goes.
- Zetrr tries to open the app straight away. The browser may ask the visitor to allow it.
- If the app doesn't open, they can tap the Open button again or tap Continue on website.
If Instagram's in-app browser blocks the app, the page suggests choosing Open in browser from its menu, then trying again.
On a computer, visitors go straight to the website.
When you paste your link into WhatsApp or another app that shows previews, the preview still shows your link's title and image. Preview checks aren't redirected and aren't counted as clicks.
Apps Opener recognises#
- Social and video: YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, Snapchat, Twitch, Vimeo and Netflix.
- Messaging: WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and Messenger.
- Shopping: Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Meesho, AJIO, eBay, Etsy, Walmart, AliExpress and StockX.
- Music and podcasts: Spotify, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, SoundCloud, Deezer and TIDAL.
- Other: Google Maps, Docs, Sheets and Slides, Zoom, Slack, Airbnb, Booking.com and TripAdvisor.
For some services, Opener keeps the service's own web address, and the phone decides whether its app opens it. Any other link works as an ordinary short link to the website.
Opener checks the app each time someone taps, so older links pick up apps Zetrr adds later.
Shopping links and countries#
The store follows your link, not the visitor. An Amazon India product link opens Amazon India, even for someone abroad. Zetrr never changes the storefront, currency, product or your affiliate tag. Short links such as amzn.to stay as they are and open as web links.
Zetrr Automation uses the same app-opening links in its DMs. See Links in your DMs and how clicks are counted.
