Links in your DMs can be buttons under the message or links typed in the text. Either way, Smart Links can help them open in the right app.
Add a link button#
- In the automation builder, find Links (optional) under your Direct message.
- Select Add link.
- Enter a Button label, such as “Get the link”, and the web address.
- Select Add link.
You can add up to three buttons. With link buttons, the message itself can be up to 640 characters. You can also paste a link straight into the message text.
Smart Links#
Links opened from Instagram open in Instagram’s own browser, where people are often logged out of shopping and video apps. Smart Links fix that.
With Open links in the right app on (in Settings → Smart Links, on by default):
- Links to recognised apps, such as Amazon, Flipkart and YouTube, become a short zetrr.com link. Its page opens the app with your original link, and your affiliate parameters are kept.
- Other web links get a source tag (
utm_source=zetrr.com), so your website analytics can tell these visits apart.
Zetrr follows the marketplace in your link, not the person’s location: an Amazon UAE link stays in the UAE. Open Supported apps and countries in Settings for the full list.
Links Zetrr never changes#
- Instagram links.
- Zetrr’s own links, such as your BioLink page or an Opener link.
- A link that already has its own
utm_sourcetag keeps it.
Counting visits#
Automation’s reports count DMs sent and read, not clicks on each link. To count visits:
- Look for the zetrr.com source tag in your own website analytics.
- Or send a Zetrr Opener link, which Automation leaves untouched. Opener counts its clicks for you. See See clicks on your links.
Turn Smart Links off#
Switch off Open links in the right app. Your links are then sent exactly as you wrote them.
