Choose the keywords that trigger a reply

In short

Trigger words are the keywords that decide which comments or messages get your reply. Add up to 20, each up to 80 characters. Smart matching is on by default and also catches typos and stylings like “linkk” or “LINK!!!”. Turn on Any comment to answer every comment instead.

Trigger keywords decide which comments or messages get your automated reply. Zetrr calls them trigger words.

Add trigger words#

  1. Open the automation in Automations.
  2. Find Trigger words.
  3. Type a word or phrase and press Enter (a comma works too).
  4. Repeat for each word. Press Backspace in an empty box to remove the last one.
  5. Select Save changes (or Create automation for a new one).

You can add up to 20 trigger words, each up to 80 characters. A comment or message only needs to match one of them.

Answer everything instead#

Turn on Any comment (for comments) or Any message (for story replies) to respond no matter what people write.

A Keyword in DM automation always needs at least one trigger word. Otherwise it would answer every message you receive.

Choose how words match#

Open Advanced options and look under Keyword matching:

  • Contains (the default): the word can appear anywhere in the comment.
  • Exact match: the comment must be the word and nothing else.
  • Starts with: the comment must begin with the word.
  • Case sensitive: tick it if capital letters should matter. It’s off by default.

Smart matching#

Smart matching is on for new automations. It also catches typos and stylings, such as “linkk”, “LINK!!!” or “loveee”, so you don’t miss people on a busy post. It ignores emoji, punctuation, accents and repeated letters.

It allows small spelling slips only: keywords of up to four letters must be spelled exactly, and longer ones can be one or two letters off. A keyword of one or two characters only matches as a whole word.

When two automations match#

One comment runs one automation. Zetrr picks:

  1. An automation for that specific post before one for Any post or reel.
  2. Then Exact match before Starts with, and Starts with before Contains.
  3. Then the longest matching keyword.
  4. Then the newest automation.

Next, write the message people get: see Create a comment-to-DM automation.

Questions

Do keywords care about capital letters?

No, unless you tick Case sensitive under Advanced options.

Does the keyword have to be the whole comment?

Not with Contains, the default. Choose Exact match if it should be the whole comment.
