To reply automatically to DMs, you create a Keyword in DM automation with the words people send you.
Set it up#
- In Zetrr Automation, open Automations and select New automation.
- Choose Reply to incoming DMs. (Or choose Start from scratch and pick Keyword in DM under What starts it?)
- Under Trigger words, add at least one word, such as PRICE or GUIDE, and press Enter after each.
- Write your Direct message under Auto-reply, and add up to three link buttons.
- Select Create automation.
Why a trigger word is required#
A Keyword in DM automation can’t answer every message. Without a trigger word it would reply to every DM you receive, including friends, brands and fans who want to talk to you. Zetrr won’t save one without a trigger word.
To choose how words match, see Choose the keywords that trigger a reply.
How replies are sent#
The person messaged you first, so Instagram’s 24-hour window is open and your reply goes as a normal DM in the same thread. Each matching message runs one automation, and the same message is never answered twice.
You can add Send a follow-up and Collect email or phone to a DM automation. See Send a follow-up message and Collect emails and phone numbers in DMs.
When people reply STOP#
Anyone who replies STOP is opted out of your automated messages, whatever your trigger words are. The words stop, unsubscribe, optout, opt-out, opt out and cancel, sent on their own, all count. So don’t use them as trigger words.
Messages from brands#
Automation also keeps an eye out for DMs that read like a brand or collaboration enquiry, and lists them in the Collabs tab, even when they contain one of your trigger words. See The Collabs tab: brand-deal enquiries.
