Set it up#
- In Zetrr Automation, open Automations and select New automation.
- Choose DM from story replies. (Or choose Start from scratch and pick Story reply under What starts it?)
- Under Trigger words, leave Any message on to answer every story reply. To answer only some, turn it off and add trigger words.
- Write your Direct message under Auto-reply, and add link buttons if you need them.
- Select Create automation.
It answers replies to any of your stories, and it starts live.
How the reply is sent#
A story reply is a message to you, so it opens Instagram’s 24-hour window for that conversation. Zetrr sends your reply as a normal DM in the same thread. Nothing is posted publicly.
If you reply to the person yourself, any follow-ups still waiting for them are cancelled, so you can take over the conversation.
What you can add#
- Send a follow-up: up to three timed messages after your DM, with text, a voice note or both. See Send a follow-up message.
- Collect email or phone: ask for a contact first and send the link once they share it. They answer by sending you a message; another story reply doesn’t count as an answer. See Collect emails and phone numbers in DMs.
Opening message, Ask to follow first and Public comment reply are for comment automations only.
Check that it works#
Reply to one of your stories from another Instagram account, then look in Analytics → View all activity to see the DM in Message History. See Read your Automation results.
